Dr Duenas is retiring at the end of April 2023
Dr Manel Duenas has been a GP Partner at The Willerby & Swanland Practice, caring for patients and being an integral member of our practice team for nearly 22 years.
It is with mixed feelings that we would like to announce that he will be retiring from his role at the end of April 2023.
Dr Duenas will be missed for his caring and compassionate nature, hard work and dedication to his career. His colleagues will miss his fun-loving personality, a genuine lovely person to work alongside.
We all wish Dr Duenas a long and happy retirement and hope that he will enjoy his new adventures, a very well-earned retirement.
All patients on the list for Dr Duenas will be moved to the other Partners list at the Practice. We assure you that you will continue to receive the same high level of care from the Practice team moving forward.
We have successfully recruited to replace the Clinical provision provided by Dr Duenas. We are introducing two highly experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners hoping that this will help futureproof the recruitment needs of the Practice. Rosie will commence seeing patients on 17th April and Justine will commence later in May. We welcome to them both to our team.
Our Administration and Support Team
Supporting the clinicians is a dedicated team of staff who take on a variety of administrative roles. They are led by a Patient Services Manager.
Reception
Ensuring the smooth operation of the practice, a team of 10 Receptionists cover the office opening hours.
The reception team is available from 8.00am to 6.00pm - including lunch times - Monday to Friday.
The reception team book appointments, arrive patients, answer queries and manage repeat prescription requests.
They are trained and required to field telephone calls for clinicians, pass on test results and generally signpost patient queries to the appropriate person or organisation.

Secretaries
Our team of secretaries cover each morning from 8.00am to 12.00noon and between them field calls and queries for the doctors as well as dealing with all correspondence (in and out), maintaining home visit requests and tracking patient referrals.
Health Promotion and Data Input
Other key support roles are in administration and health promotion. There is a massive amount of data - electronic and paper - which has to be organised and processed. This includes ensuring new patients registrations are managed, clinical notes are prepared, recall clinics are arranged and relevant data is scanned and coded to patient records.
Most of the correspondence received about patients from other healthcare providers is read, actioned and then captured to individual patient notes.
These functions are managed by a data-input team.
Other GP information
We are instructed by the DoH that practices are to publish certain financial information about how much the doctors earnings are from their NHS contracted work.
The following statement applies from 31 March 2021. The average pay for GPs working in Willerby and Swanland Surgery in the last financial year was £79,829 before tax and national insurance. This is for 2 partners, 1 full time salaried GP, 3 Part time salaried GPs and 1 sessional GPs
